The first time I went to Seminar I left thinking "I want to be Mary Kay."
Here is a woman who really lives what she believes. It must be so satisfying
for her to see what she has created, and how she has affected so many lives.
The principles of God first, family second, career third and the Golden
Rule aren't just hype in her company. I hope that never changes. I'd often
thought how many of us would never get the opportunity to thank her in
person, and that someone should write a song about that. A couple of days
after her passing, that song came to me. It's the last song on this
recording. I've never attempted to write music before; I don't even read
music, so keep that in mind. The song could be for anyone who has affected my
life, but that I didn't get to know. It gives me a way to say thanks. I hope
it does that for you too.

For Mary Kay Ash. From those of us that never met her but feel like we've always known her and will be forever grateful to her.

I Wish I Could Have Known You Then
As I look back through your pictures and hear the stories people tell
Of your success and your achievements, the trials you endured so well;
It makes me stand in awe and wonder, how could one woman do so much
And did you ever really understand just how many lives you touched?
I wish I could have known you then. I wish I could have been your friend.
I wish I could have seen your face, could have felt your fond embrace
When my hope was at its end.
All I am or hope to do, I know I owe in part to you.
You'll live in this heart of mine because you let your light so shine.
I wish I could have known you then.
To enrich the lives of women, that's what you made your highest aim;
To leave this world a little brighter than it was before you came.
And like the God you put your faith in you showed a better way to live.
You taught it doesn't matter where we've been; it's all about what lies within.
You said I have a premonition and it soars on silver wings.
A dream of your accomplishment of many wondrous things.
I do not know beneath which sky or where you'll challenge fate.
I only know it will be high. I know it will be great!
I wish I could have known you then. I wish I could have been your friend.
I wish I could have seen your grace, could have felt your fond embrace
When my hope was at its end.
All I am or hope to do, I know I owe in part to you.
You'll live in this heart of mine because you let your light so shine.
I wish I could have known you then.
When my time on earth is finished, when my Maker calls me home,
When I'm greeted by my family, by friends and loved ones gone before,
I hope and pray that somewhere in that crowd I'll see your smile
And I'll get the chance to thank you and maybe sit and talk awhile.
Oh I can't wait to see you then and to hear you call me friend,
To finally feel your warm embrace as the tears roll down my face.
My gratitude will never end.
All I am or hope to be I have 'cause you helped me to see
Just what was in this heart of mine and how to let my own light shine.
I wish I could have known you then.
From within this heart of mine your light will forever shine.
I wish I could have known you then.
